A volunteer matchmaking organisation
My Local Friend is a volunteer matchmaking organisation, based in Groningen. It was initiated, launched and developed by Maieutic, and funded by the Akkoord of Groningen. As of 2022, it became part of City Central.
My Local Friend organises matches for:
- Dutch conversational lessons between internationals and Dutch residents,
- German conversational lessons between German students and Dutch MBO students,
- ‘Welcome buddies’ for new residents.
Our aim is to facilitate intergenerational and intercultural contact and thus contribute to social cohesion in the city of Groningen.
