Cultural exchange event series
North South lines is intended as a public event series design to open up discourse and facilitate exchange between African and European contexts on topics in contemporary culture.
We are interested in how postcolonial narratives and identities play out in a transnational context, particularly in the arts sector, and how this relates to social movements on one hand, and institutions on the other. We aim particularly to disrupt the often oppositional framing in discourses with or about Africa in the European context.
North South Lines was an initative of maieutic together with the Euroculture programme at the Faculty of Arts, University of Groningen. As of 2023, the series will be organised again, this time as part of my university appointment.
